Purpose:

The Camden Property Trust Scholarship Fund was established to provide scholarship opportunity to children of Camden employees and encourage them to continue their education by attending a creditable College or University.

Eligibility:

Deadline Date – March 23, 2012

Graduating seniors and undergraduate students under the age of 25 who are children of full-time Camden employees may apply for the scholarship.

The student's parent/guardian must have completed at least two years of active service with Camden by the date of scholarship award date.

Applicants must be a U.S. citizen; or, if not a current citizen, then a permanent U.S. resident and be in the process of becoming a U.S. citizen.

Applicants must have a maintained at least a 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale) grade point average during high school and if attending college at 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale) grade point average.

Applicants must also provide copies of their SAT/ACT scores, other standardized test results and original high school/college transcripts. School activities, community service/activities, work experience, and references will also be considered when reviewing applications.

Scholarship Award:

The scholarship award is up to $2,000 per semester, $4,000 per year for a four year college undergraduate study or $1,000 per semester, $2,000 per year for a two year community college undergraduate study. The maximum scholarship award is for a total of 4 years. Applicants must renew each year.

Winners of the scholarship must enter college in the fall term following the award and must enroll as a full-time (at least 12 hours per semester) undergraduate in a college/community college or university in the United States that holds accredited status with a regional accrediting commission on higher education.

The scholarship winners must remain in good academic and disciplinary standing and provide original school transcripts in order to continue the scholarship award.

Scholarship awards are paid directly to the college or university where the student will be attending and can only be applied toward tuition, books, room and board, meal tickets and other fees.

Application Procedures:

Applications and communication about the scholarship fund will be furnished and distributed annually by Camden. The application and scholarship information will be posted on the company's website. Deadline for this scholarship is March 23, 2012.

Interested students must complete the application in full either typed or printed neatly and return with the other required information before or on the annual due date. Students must re-apply each year.

Scholarship Advisory Committee:

The Greater Houston Community Foundation will provide a Scholarship Advisory Committee comprised of an odd number of members. The Scholarship Advisory Committee will be responsible for evaluating and selecting the Camden Property Trust Scholarship Fund recipients. The selection of recipients is made on an equitable and non-discriminatory basis.

Any committee member with a past or current relationship with any applicant or family member will not participate in assessing that application.

Selection of Scholarship Winners:

For the purpose of evaluation of applicants, the Scholarship Advisory Committee will review all completed applications. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Applicants are evaluated on a combination of academic achievement, school activities/leadership, community service/activities, work experience, and references.
