Hilcorp Scholarship Fund

Application Information

Purpose:
The Hilcorp Scholarship Fund was established to provide scholarship opportunity to children of Hilcorp Energy Company employees and employees of its affiliates, to encourage them to continue their education by attending a creditable College or University, who would otherwise be unable to afford it.

Eligibility:
  • Child, under the age of 24, of a full-time employee, excluding the VP level and above, with a minimum of 2 years of employment service with Hilcorp Energy Company or one of its affiliates, Harvest Pipeline Company or Hilcorp Ventures Inc.
  • Graduating high school senior or others entering college for the first time
  • Winners of the scholarship must enter college in the fall term following the award and must enroll as a full-time (at least 12 hours per semester) undergraduate in a college/community college or university in the United States that holds accredited status with a regional accrediting commission on higher education
Criteria:
  • Applicants must have a maintained at least a 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale) grade point average during high school.
  • High school applicants must also provide copies of their SAT/ACT scores along with their official high school transcript.
Scholarship Award:
10 scholarships of $5,000 each will be awarded each year. The scholarship will be sent directly to the college or university that the student will be attending to cover tuition, room and board, books and fees. When all of these expenses are covered, the balance can be released to the student to cover transportation and other living expenses.

Renewal Criteria
The scholarship is awarded for one year. However, the student may renew up to three consecutive years subject to the following criteria and availability of funds:
  • Maintains a 3.0 GPA (in most recent two semesters)
  • Completes at least 12 credit hours per semester
  • Completes the renewal form and submits in by the deadline date provided
Application Procedures:
Applications and communication about the scholarship fund will be furnished and distributed annually by Hilcorp. The application and scholarship information will be posted on the company's website and also on the Greater Houston Community Foundation's web page.

Interested students must complete the application in full either typed or printed neatly and return with the other required information before or on the annual due date.

Scholarship Selection Committee:
The Greater Houston Community Foundation Scholarship Advisory Committee is responsible for evaluating and selecting the Hilcorp Energy Company Scholarship Fund winners. The selection of recipients is made on an equitable and non-discriminatory basis.

Any committee member with a past or current relationship with any applicant or family member will not participate in assessing that application.

For the purpose of evaluation of applicants, the Scholarship Advisory Committee will review all completed applications that meet the basic eligibility criteria. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
