Purpose: This scholarship was established by the Gulf Coast Local Section to support the mission of the American Industrial Hygiene Association, which is to promote, protect, and enhance industrial hygienists and other occupational health, safety and environmental professionals in their efforts to improve the health and well being of workers, the community, and the environment. Financially assisting industrial hygiene students in their career path supports this mission. The scholarship has been established by the GCS-AIHA to provide financial assistance to selected students majoring in Industrial Hygiene related course work, in any of the institutions of Higher Education identified by the GCS-AIHA Board of Directors. This scholarship is to support tuition, textbooks or associated fees by undergraduate and graduate students in the pursuit of their degree. Based on need and availability of the funds, the award fund may also be used for travel expenses incurred by students conducting field studies or presenting the results of their research at a professional meeting associated with or sponsored by AIHA.
