Guidelines for Making Your Year-end Contributions and Grant Recommendations


As of the end of the third quarter, donors from the Greater Houston Community Foundation have granted nearly $42 million to nonprofits of their choice, many of which are in the greater Houston area.  Even in a tough economy, people in Houston continue to keep pace with their grantgiving, knowing nonprofits are in need of financial help now more than ever.  To continue on that path, here are the year-end deadlines for money coming in and going out of GHCF:

The Gulf Coast Ike Relief Fund was established at the request of Houston Mayor Bill White to help fill unmet human needs for victims of Hurricane Ike primarily in Galveston, Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Harris and Montgomery counties.

Give to the Bush-Clinton Coastal
Recovery Fund

The Bush-Clinton Coastal Recovery Fund will raise money for long-term recovery efforts all along the Gulf Coast as a result of Hurricane Ike.

The effort is patterned after the two former presidents’ previous partnerships to help survivors of the Indonesian tsunami and of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

Private Foundation Services

The Greater Houston Community Foundation partners with private foundations by providing outsourcing services and donor advised funds. With GHCF’s assistance, private foundations can enhance their effectiveness and expand their flexibility.
