Houston Country Club Scholarship


The scholarships may be awarded to eligible students among Houston Country Club’s employees and their children and grandchildren.  The scholarship award may be used for books, fees and tuition at an accredited college, university or trade school. Important Facts:

 

  • Application deadline:  February 27, 2009
  • Scholarship awards will be announced to recipients by June 1
  • Applications are available in the Human Resources Department at the Houston Country Club.  Applications may be obtained from the Greater Houston Community Foundation office or by clicking the link in the right sidebar. 

 

Eligibility

 

  • Is an employee or a child/grandchild of a current employee of Houston Country Club
  • If the current employee is the parent of the applicant, they must have been working full-time for a minimum of one year by the application deadline.
  • If the current employee is the student applicant, they can be working part-time but with a minimum of 500 hours by the application deadline.
  • Child or grandchild of the employee must be under the age of 25 years old
  • Preferences will be given to students currently living in the Greater Houston area.
  • Has maintained a grade point average of 2.5 or better on a 4.0 scale on high school studies or two most recent college semesters, as applicable; or otherwise satisfies the Scholarship Committee as to satisfactory academic standing.
  • Plans on enrolling, or is enrolled  in any accredited college/university or accredited trade school as a full-time or part-time student for a minimum of six hours per semester
  • Demonstrates the potential to make a worthy contribution to the community and has excellent moral character
  • Preference will be given to students who have previously received a scholarship from the Houston Country Club.

 

The scholarship is awarded for one year.  However, the student may reapply subject to committee approval and availability of funds, provided the recipient:

  1. Maintains a 2.5 GPA (in most recent two semesters)
  2. Completes at least 6 credit hours per semester
  3. Complies with the information requirements of the scholarship program
  4. Completes the entire application process in order to be considered.
